Study Program

At Abilities Empowered we offer tutoring for students who have specific needs. Through our iCARE Approach, we identify the students’ cognitive areas that need improvement as well as the best mode of learning that suits the individual child. Accordingly, we form a specialized and personalised educational program that suits each student’s individual needs. Lessons include more tactile methods of presenting and practising a topic (kinaesthetic learning, concrete objects, real-life problem solving) and visualisation of information (mind maps, graphic organisers, semantic webs). Concepts are presented and taught through a graded level of difficulty which allows the students to build up their confidence and be more open to the learning process. Moreover, reading and writing recovery programs are formed to improve the student’s fluency in reading, comprehension, and writing structure.

In Abilities Empowered Specific Needs programs, the primary Focus is on developing the child’s learning skills in the Language, Literacy and Numeracy areas as once these skills are developed it will automatically help to raise the student’s abilities and achievements in other Subject areas.

Hence we mainly address:

• Mathematics
• English
• Reading
• Reading Comprehension
• Handwriting and Writing (Sentence Structure, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling).

In addition, a variety of other factors and educational goals are assessed and incorporated in the teaching program, such as

• gradual extension of students’ concentration span
• effective management of study and test time
• effective cooperation with parents
• establishing routines that will facilitate learning

• R – Reinforce, Recap, Revise: Our Specialised Programs help to reinforce, recap and revise – this is very important for Special Needs Children
• E – Engage-Encourage -Empathise: Our Specialised Teaching methods focus on engaging the Child’s attention and interest, encouraging, empathising and motivating them to reach their full potential by using interactive, participative and inquiry approaches to enthuse further learning.
