Education

At Abilities Empowered, we believe that every child has the ability to learn and to achieve. We empower the Disadvantaged and Special Needs students through our Specialised and Personalised Tutoring and Teaching so that they can reach their full potential.

However there is a great need for timely identification, diagnosis and early intervention so that the child gets maximum benefit from our services.

A. Tutoring for Special Needs and the Disadvantaged

  • Understanding the Needs of The Special Needs Child - Many of the difficulties faced by students are caused not so much by the material but by the way it is taught and presented. Barriers to learning often result not so much from the complexity of the material but more often from the manner and mode it is presented. This is even more important in the case of Special Needs children whose teaching must be adapted to suit their unique individual needs.
  • Understanding the Needs of The Disadvantaged Child - Many children live in disadvantage, feel isolated and struggle to keep up. At AE we try to understand the child’s individual needs, their circumstances and adapt our teaching practices to suit their particular needs, providing them with the support and assistance they need.
  • Overcoming Learning Barriers - Our objective is to identify each child’s learning needs. Identification, diagnosis and early intervention are important and help in achieving better outcomes for the child. Through our specialised study programs we engage and involve them in the Learning Experience and thus help them overcome the barriers they face.

B. Educational Programs

Besides our Specialised Tutoring we also run educational workshops and programs like:

  • Learn to Achieve – a student motivational education program
  • Maths for Life – a mathematics skill development program
  • Joys of Reading – a reading skills development program

C. Counselling and Advisory Services

We provide counselling and advisory services through consultations with our skilled professionals and health practitioners.

Employment Support Services

Every person has the right to be provided with opportunities to develop to their full potential and to develop skills that equip them to enter into productive employment according to their abilities.

AE provides job assistance programs and employable skills development training opportunities to enhance work prospects. This leaves the special needs or disadvantaged person with a much needed sense of self worth and self actualization.
